What is this?

This is a blog devoted to wine industry professionals, with tips, tricks and best practices for all aspects of grape growing, wine production, management and selling, from the vineyard to the bottle to the store shelf. I hope to promote a DIY ethicand foster a collaborative environment, to learn and help each other. Four principle sources inspire me (in the order that I saw them):

First, Zymurgy Magazine, back in the day it had a great Members Tips and Tricks Section, a great resource for home brewing.

Second, Cooks Illustrated Magazine has a Quick Tips section which features reader submitted tips and tricks used in the kitchen. They have also published a couple books assembling many of these tips together.

Third, is Alton Brown and Good Eats, I don’t think any explanation is necessary.

Last is the blog, Lifehacker, from which I obviously stole the name for this blog (Thanks and Sorry??) and constantly barrages me with a nearly overwhelming amount of inspiration, which I frequently repost.

My career focus has been on the winemaking and production side of things, I am sure that those subjects will dominate as this begins, but I hope that this can expand to all areas of the industry.
